About Dr. Tracey RickardsTracey Rickards, BN, RN, MN, PhD is currently an assistant professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing at UNB in 1986, her Master's of Nursing at UNB in 2005, and her PhD in Nursing at Dalhousie University in 2013. Tracey has held a variety of positions throughout her nursing career. After graduation in 1986, she started as a staff nurse in the Hematology/Neurology Unit and later in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Toronto General Hospital. From there, she returned to Fredericton to become the nurse manager at the Morgentaler Clinic in 1995 (now home to Clinic 554). She moved on to hold several positions with River Valley Health (now Horizon Health), including being a staff nurse in the intensive care unit and ExtraMural program until 2002. Dr. Rickards was the quality/risk management coordinator for the New Brunswick Department of Health and Wellness until 2004 and then she returned to community health, working in the UNB Faculty of Nursing Community Health Clinic in downtown Fredericton as an Outreach Research Nurse until 2009. During her time at the clinic, Dr. Rickards was involved in the evaluation of the methadone maintenance treatment program in the Elsipogtog Health and Wellness Centre and worked as a research assistant at Dalhousie University with Dr. L. Goldberg. Dr. Rickards started with the Faculty of Nursing at UNB as the 1st year clinical coordinator in 2009, and continued on to become a senior instructor in 2010. In 2013, she started in her current role as assistant professor in the Faculty of Nursing at UNB. Dr. Rickards teaches clinical and theory-based nursing courses at the University of New Brunswick.
